Reds closer Ryan Madson will miss the entire 2012 season with a torn ligament in his pitching elbow which will require Tommy John surgery, John Fay of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

According to Gordon Wittenmyer of the Chicago Sun Times, the Chicago Cubs and left-handed pitcher Sean Marshall have avoided salary arbitration by agreeing to a one-year contract for $950,000.
