Now that the Rangers have extended Derek Holland, Elvis Andrus and Nelson Cruz, the next step would be to evaluate the possibility of giving a contract extension to Josh Hamilton. We all know what Hamilton is capable of doing when he’s healthy, and the Rangers should strongly consider extending considering all that they have invested in [...]

With the year that Mike Napoli had with the Rangers in 2011, there’s no doubt he will be their everyday catcher next season. That would leave Yorvit Torrealba as their back up catcher, a role that might make Torrealba unhappy according to T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com. Sullivan says that the Rangers will probably dangle Torrealba to [...]

Texas Rangers’ backup catcher Yorvit Torrealba is drawing attention from his former employer, the San Francisco Giants, Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports reports. The Giants lost last year’s Rookie of the Year, Buster Posey, and have been using a platoon of Eli Whiteside and Chris Stewart, but both have performed poorly as of late. However, [...]

The New York Mets haven’t had much good news lately until today.  According to Ronald Blum of the Associated Press, the Mets won a grievance over Yorvit Torrealba when arbitrator Shyam Das ruled the Mets had the right to not complete a $14.4 million, three-year deal with the catcher in November 2007. The agreement was signed [...]

    5. Rangers- Yes the Rangers are in the top 5 in my eyes.  And yes I know they lost out on Cliff Lee. But take away that and the fact they overpaid a bit for Adrian Beltre and they had a decent offseason.  They brought in catcher Yorvit Torrealba as well as Mike Napoli via-trade [...]

Catcher Matt Treanor is close to returning with the Texas Rangers, according to MLB.com’s T.R. Sullivan. If he returns, he will most likely be the backup to Yorvit Torrealba. “I don’t know if it will happen in the next day but we’re pretty confident Matt is coming back,” general manager Jon Daniels said Friday.

The Texas Rangers have reached a two-year deal with free agent catcher Yorvit Torrealba, according to Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star Telegram. Anthony Andro of the Star Telegram says that the Rangers are paying Torrealba $6.25 million over two-years, with $3 million in 2011 and $3.25 million in 2012. Torrealba declined his side of the [...]

Venezuelan Catcher Yorvit Torrealba doesn’t have a contract yet, and his agent is attending the GM meetings in Florida right now according to Carlos Alberto Zambrano from liderendeportes.com. Torrealba is optimistic that his agent can negotiate a new two-year contract (preferably with a national league team) while at the winter meetings. Torrealba decided to wait until [...]

According to the Palm Beach Post’s Joe Capozzi, the Florida Marlins and free agent catcher A.J. Pierzynski have mutual interest in each other. Capozzi cautions that Pierzynski may be too expensive for the Marlins. He made $6.75 million with the Chicago White Sox in 2011. In mid-September, we heard that the Marlins had planned to address [...]

San Diego Padres catcher Yorvit Torrealba has turned down his side of  his 2011 mutual option according to MLB.com’s Corey Brock. It was an expected move, but the Padres would like to have retained Torrealba. Brock adds that the Padres “won’t/can’t break the bank to do so.” Dan Hayes of the North County Times added that [...]
